Gutzon Borglum, the artist and creator of Mount Rushmore inspects the nose of George Washington in South Dakota, May 1932. Borglum spent the last 14 years of his life working on the mountain. His son later finished the monument in 1941. Mount Rushmore was originally named "The Six Grandfathers" by the Lakota Sioux.  Photographic print by an unknown photographer.
